What type of insurance do you need?

Distracted driving is the number one cause of wrecks these days. With the milliions of other drivers on the road, you have to be aware of your surroundings all the time. Being the "back seat driver" can add to distraction. Here are 3 ways to be a better passenger:

1. Put The Electronics Away
You've heard it once, you'll hear it again. Don't be the passenger that is loudly talking on the phone in the back seat. Turn your phone on silent if you're continuously texting. Also, don't try to show the driver a video while he or she is driving. Your electronics can distract the driver more than you think.

2. Don't Add Stress
Fighting with the driver on a parking spot, speed limit or wrong directions can add stress and take the drivers mind off of the road. If the driver is having to use hand gestures, raise his voice or focusing on something else, it increases the risk of a wreck. Be a good passenger and discuss the heated arguments after you have parked and exited the vehicle.

3. Don't Be a Backseat Driver
Telling someone how to drive is pet peeve of many. If you are not sitting behind the steering wheel, you should have no input on how the driver should be driving. Someone telling you to turn a certain way or go a different speed can cause a wreck - we don't want that to happen to you! What a silly mistake that can be prevented by NO back seat drivers!

Wrecks can cause your auto insurance to go up - whether they were your fault or not. Don't be the passenger who has to take the blame.
