Distracted Drivers- A Problem for Everyone!
Recently, I witnessed and accident at an intersection where one pick-up t-boned another. Luckily, no one was seriously injured, but the driver who ran the red light said that all he did was "look down at something" and when he looked up, the light was red and it was too late to stop.
This could happen to any of us.
A driver of an automobile in the year 2017 has a number of distractions to deal with including:
- Talking on a cell phone
- Text Messages- Reading and Composing
- Changing radio station
- Watching GPS Navigation
- Looking in vanity mirrors
- Putting on Makeup
- Eating and drinking
- Taking photos while driving
The great news is that we do something to prevent these kinds of accident for occurring.
Now is a great time for teens and parents/employers and employees to talk about the importance of reducing distractions while driving.
Distraction.gov is a site devoted to helping prevent accidents caused by distracted drivers. They provide special tools and training for Teens, Parents, Educators and Employers to help prevent unnecessary accidents and to save lives.
